A new beginning

I wanted to get this done for a while and now with the advent of AI I didn't had to put that much work anyway.

This here is Democracy, which I will be open sourcing once I clean up the code a bit. To be more specific, this is an instance of Democracy. An app that grabs some of the best parts of the only 2 social media sites I use: HackerNews and 4chan (/g/ & /pol/).

For now there is not a lot to it, but there is enough that you can see the parts that belong to each site - we have the nested comments from HN, the news aggregator vibe and the simplistic design, from 4chan we have the /pol/ flags, the political aspect, and the broader spectrum from off-color speech tolerance.

I also wanted to add a touch of the old web and have ways for users to customize the space to their needs, so users can change the page title (or site name, if you will), you can change the colors around and even upload your own banner.

Because I didn't wanted to start with an empty service I created a bot service that grabs popular content from HN and brings it here... It shall do for populating content at the beginning.
